Venus has made her return in Scorpio, her sign of nocturnal exile. I have a soft spot for a Mars-ruled Venus myself, and I’ve found myself wanting to honour this ingress with an exploration of Venus in Scorpio in example charts. I decided to examine how fixed stars in paran to Venus, decan and term placement, might nuance its expression. For this purpose, I thought it would be better to narrow down my search, and I looked at charts with Sagittarius rising and a Libra MC, which puts Venus in Scorpio in the whole sign 12th House, and ruling the MC.

Venus in Scorpio

Scorpio is the nocturnal domicile of Mars, and exile of Venus. This is a shadowy terrain, ripe with detectives, assassins, spies, psychic warriors; it’s got broody stares, tragic backstories, and hypervigilance written all over it. Scorpio is sometimes compared to a quiet lake at night: it might look eerily calm, but you don’t know what might be brewing underneath the surface. A volcanic pool might be a good metaphor as well. The Scorpion is an animal always armoured for battle, as my teacher Austin Coppock pointed out; ever-ready to seize and sting.

Venus’ primordial task is to connect, to unify. There’s a longing for Love with Venus, in all its myriad forms. So what does this look like in the dark abode of Mars? Well, for one thing, there’s a lot of goth glamour involved. And that’s where it gets really fun in terms of style, as we’ll see.
